mariner/yamaha 25hp

Hi all

I have an opportunity to purchase a 25hp early Yamaha built Mariner 2 stroke, mid to late 80s I reckon. Its in fantastic condition, runs very sweetly.

Before I take the plunge however I was wondering whether parts are still widely available? I assume they are usually found under yamaha suppliers.

Thanks

Simon

Most if not all parts are still available I believe. Just contact a merc/mar dealer have the serial number ready just in case its required.

I've run a few Mariners of this age and they are solid motors if well maintained and they're easy to work on. Just don't pay too much as they will never be worth anywhere near the 2001-2006 last of the 2-stroke model prices.

Asking price is 400. I have seen it running and a mechanic has checked it over. Seem reasonable?

Yes very fair. My last hard boat had the same age Mariner (we had both 20 & 25) and they were bombproof... here powering us out to the sound of Jura...

We also keep a mid 80s 4hp Mariner for river use and it's that "lay in the garage for two years unused then start first time" type of motor.

...Amazingly light, too! I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried lifting it.

I got a 1992 mariner 30hp currently being rebuilt. All the yam parts fit so no problems there
