Merc 90 charging system terminal block

Ahoy there,
We still have the pleasure of working on a Merc 3 cylinder 90hp. w/jet on a aluminum river work boat.
We got the flywheel off with the factory puller and replaced the dead stator and now we have spark. It had a broken magnet in the flywheel

In the Merc factory Repair manual's pictures I see we have a 16amp (small voltage reg-having 5 wires in/out)

The (gray) Terminal Block has one of its end terminals broken off. The yellow stator/regulator wires.

Since this boat doesn't have a Tachometer could I just solder the wires together and by pass 1/2 of the terminal block?

I've got some liquid Neoprene sealer to cover the soldered and taped eyes on the wires when I'm done.

over the waves

The Rectifier just doesn't send pulses to the Rev Counter it also charges your battery. The thing needs to be working in its entirity to recharge the battery and give information to the Rev Counter. If your not bothered about that the engine will still run, but obviously you will need to keep an eye on the battery.

I was able to get a month of use out of my battery before it needed a recharge.

To buy a rectifier will cost you about £35 second hand in the UK and about half that in the US.

Best of Luck.

NCR.

Turbodiesel,
Yes that terminal block is gray and when new had 3 bolts-- one of the lower broke off.
Just a place to hook up the wires--right?
thanks
