Merc Verado L4 200 or new V6 200

New engine to get - Clearly the new Merc 200hp 3.4L 4s is nice on paper, and reviews are impressive, but there’s a wait until October.

Anyone had a Verado 4cyl 200hp - I’m interested to know what it’d be like compared to a 175hp Opti 2.5L V6 2S

I've gone from an opti 175 to a verado 175... Can't beat the opti really... The verado is quiet, a bit better on fuel but doesn't have the grunt of the opti one bit

Merc Verado L4 200 or new V6 200

Interesting you went from opti to verado and found it coming up sightly short. A Merc dealer assured us it would be quicker, but we decided to wait and have ordered the new 3.4L 4s for October - just none available.

The verado is only 1.7L and even with a supercharger can’t match the optimax torque wise I don’t think. Opti was designed in 1996, Verado 2004, this new engine 2017. Its had rave reviews and despite being a 4S 3.4L V6 it’s lighter than the Verado and only about 10kg heavier than the 2.5L V6 2S (175/150) optimax!

It’s relaxing he option and Verado next year. Though the larger Verado’s are being kept... for now.

If you believe the rumours the verado is nearing end of production. Mercury do not make the supercharger itself so the new v6 and v8s will likely replace them. There are a couple of people saying the 300hp plus models will be v10's and apparently are being tested at the mercury lake X I think it is called......can't see a v10 myself but would be epic if so...tower of power, well 2 towers

Yamaha just released a 425hp but it is over 1000lbs...gulp.
