Mercruiser d1.7 boost gauge

Hi
Looking for some expert advise as to how to fit boost gauge on my valliant PT650 it has the mercruiser d 1.7dti and iam not sure whether to take pipe from manifold or actuator pipe
Also cant find serial no so i can check if it starts 88 anay idea where to look
Good advice would be much appreciated
