Mercury 15hp 2 stroke

Hi All

This might be a stupid question but having never owned a 2 stroke outboard before I thought I best ask.

I have bought a 1999 15hp mercury 2 stroke engine and waiting for it to be delivered. In the mean time is there any preference on the type of oil that is used with it, and will I have to mix it with the fuel?

I have a 2001 Mariner 15 which is the same motor. I really like them.

Yes you do have to mix the oil in the remote tank with the fuel. Mine can run at 100:1 but they say 50:1 for commercial use... so I run at 75:1.

I use Quicksilver oil but any quality marine 2-stroke oil is fine.

Make sure the oil spec is TCW-3 (Two Cycle Watercooled)
