Mercury 2 Stroke

Hi I have just bought an immaculate 2006 Mercury Commercial 2 Stroke Outboard.
It started perfectly when demonstrated but when I got it home I put it
on full choke it started immediately then stopped after about 5 seconds
during which it pumped water perfectly. After that it won’t even fire up despite putting the choke on all possible settings including off. Put some easy start down the plug sockets and it does fire up then but that’s all!
I bought it with a new SIB and already have a 4 year old “imported” Suzuki 2 Stroke which runs perfectly so I’m looking to sell the Mercury once I get it going!

You missed out the HP of the motor.
Internal tank & able to run off a remote tank or bigger engine and remote tank only?

Is the fuel line round the correct way.
How low is the fuel tank to the engine (fuel may not go up hill much)

Sorry folks forgot to say it’s a 15Hp! The post relating to the length of the pipe is interesting as it does seem excessively long- I’ll check it out tomorrow and shorten it accordingly. Also I can see the float chamber is full! Thanks for your answers so far!

That was the problem - Engine on stand with tank on ground with a long fuel line!
Lifted the tank about a foot, couple of pumps and away she went! Can’t believe I missed something so simple - thankyou.
