Mercury 225 Optimax - Vessel View Mobile Connectivity

had a look at my outboard last weekend to see how/where i can fit th eMercury Vessel View mobile kit.

Having watched the YouTube vids on this, i should have a 10 pin plug under the engine cowling (purple with a yellow cap) into which i make a connection.

Having checked, i do have a 10 pin purple connector and a blue lead that runs up to the console, but at the engine end its plugged into the engine wiring harness.

I'm still trying to fathom the various wiring connections at the engine, so any pointers on connections might be helpful, i'm also trying to compare the service manual diagrams with the connectors under the hood to make some sense of everything (and then get it labelled!).

Anyway, question for the forum expertise - should the vessel view unit plug into the socket i have and then the console connector plug into the second socket on vessel view (to make an inline connection with the vessel view in the middle)?

I have also read elsewhere that vessel view can be plugged in at the console end, presumably just on the other end of the blue cabled connector?

PS - mine is an 04 Optimax and should be compatible with vessel view

I'm just learning about all this having brought a 2003 225 Opti.

The Blue cable is your Smartcraft cable.
If you want to plug anything else other than your current gauge/gauges into it at the console end you'll need to use a 4 or 6 way hub in the console and plug everything in to that using specific cables.
