Mercury 7.5hp

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to add a kill cord to an old Mercury 7.5? I managed to pick one up cheap to use for testing and following that, to use as a reserve engine. I have seen a couple on YouTube with them on and I would rather have one for safety.

Thanks,

Jack

Yes I fitted one to a 9.8 hp (same engine)

Easy really, I bought a Tohatsu kill switch/stop swith that had two wires, I then simply replaced the stop button, which was a perfect fit. And then just connected it up as per the stop switch.

It was simple easy and worked really well.

Go for it, sensible modification.

Hi, if your engine looks like the photos below, then should be self explanatory .

Although this is a 9.8 it is the same engine.

It's an older motor but I can imagine it will be the same!
Thanks!
