Mercury Avator electric outboard

Didn't know whether to post this in "Engines and props" or "Electrics and electronics"!

Now that one of the big manufacturers have launched an electric outboard onto the market, how fast will they develop to become mainstream and which other manufacturers will follow suit?

No your not missing anything. The point I'm making is, now there is a front line manufacturer investing in electric outboards (albeit a very small outboard) how quickly will they develop.

Short use time for the battery but carrying spares (16lbs weight each) would obviously extend that.
Price for motor & batteries will be interesting. Can't find any mention of what that will actually be.

Nope

I'd love to see the day when we can realistically replace our 18hp two stroke and 15 litre fuel tank with an electric outboard that has similar power and endurance and can still be carried by one person. We're clearly a long way away from that though, probably decades away
