Mercury Black Max NMEA

Hi Guys,

This is a broad question as I don't have a serial number to hand, but would anyone know if a circa early 90's Mercury Black Max 135 has the ability to output N2K? I'll shortly be overhauling the boat electrical system and it'd be great to have the ability to view engine parameters on the plotter or dedicated Merc display.

Best regards

Chris

I highly doubt it. N2K appeared in the mid-2000's & BRP were early adopters with the Etec.

Even the current Mercury's don't output to NMEA - you need to use a Mercury Engine Gateway which converts the proprietary Mercury data to NMEA2K.

Your best bet will be to contact the importer with your engine serial number and see if it is compatible with a Gateway.
