Mercury Engine

Hi
Just bought a second hand Mercury 40HP engine mid 80s to late 80s ,its a bit more modern than my present Mariner 40hp about 1984,and also has electric start,how do i find its year,and are they a good engine coments please

Stu,
always found Mercs of that era very reliable, make sure engine under the hood id free of corrosion and you will have no worries, Narwhals are great ribs too, my pal swears by his, you should have a good fun package.
