Mercury or Yamaha?

Hello, I am not sure what to do here should I buy a 200hp optimax or a 200hp yamaha vmax the opti is 3032cc 3lt and the yama is 2596cc 2.5lt what do you think would be more fuel efficient. Any apinion on the 2 motors mentioned very appreciated.

i would proberbly say the opti is more efficient,it depends what boat its on.
but the v-max has a special leg that reduces drag, im not sure whether this effects fuel consumtion.
i would still go for the opti unless you want to race etc...

i recently reviewed all the 200s and 175s both 4 stroke and 2 stroke, the optis are more economical than the verados and a heck of a lot cheaper and have more grunt, but with regards to the yam or the opti, opti should be a lot lot cheaper, ask around for a 2005 model, the stickers are different! and you could save a lot of money

i expect a yam max would have cost me 3-4 k more

the opti is very economical so far and makes a wonderful noise, i am very chuffed especially as it was the cheapest by far

Have you looked at Evinrude or Suzuki? They would be my choices all other things being equal.
