Mercury outboards

Hi all,

Still in the hunt for a 40-50hp outboard, a lot of used seem to be overpriced when compared to a new mercury
Got a quick quote from a dealer of just over €5k for a spanking new mercury 40 hp four stroke, only thing looking through the brochure, they have a few 40hp
One is 747cc 3 cylinder inline 98kg ( is this a Yamaha?) I've heard that under 30hp Mercury are Yamaha built...

Other is 995cc 4 cylinder 112kg

According to my boats manufacturer details, I should install max 50hp 100kg

First Question is = would 12kg over matter is the hp is only 40 not 50?
Second question is= given the choice
947cc vs 995cc, 4 vs 3 cylinder, what's the smartest choice ?

Also Similar Suzuki from the same dealer = €500 extra, price is a decider unfortunately... Suzuki worth paying more for? Why?

Hi I know of a brand new suzuki 40hp for £4500 though a dealers, brand new still boxed and comes with 5 years warranty.

Hi, sounds good until I convert sterling to euro and have to get it shipped over to Ireland, thanks anyway
