sorry don't really know cos our preference is to install Cummins Mercruiser inboards. We have no experience with Yamaha. We are not only a rib builder but also the Mercury/Mariner and Mercruiser distributor for Poland so our package is more attractive

If you remember I shouted a hello to you an Paul L in the Itchen when you were returning from Ribex. I was driving an Osprey fast fisher which was about the same size as your Cabin rib and I was looking for a price comparion really.

How much would one be with twin 120's inboards.

Yes I do remember you waving and sorry we did not stop and chat.

I do not think that the twin Mercruiser 1.7 (120HP) is the right set up for the Parker 9 mtr Baltic cabin rib.

We have put this engine arrangement for the first time on a 750 Baltic hull, open rib ,as per photos on RIB GALLERY and this has proved to be a good marriage

I only mentioned Verados

Well what a interesting Thread ........Andre in the red Corner , Manos in the Blue , the crowd rises to the occasion and me .......well been kind of busy with lifeboat , one Micro lite down 2 killed , one overturned rib one life saved , 2 children trapped by incoming tide ... kind of puts into perspective the important things in life though does it not ?

Hey i am not a lover of Aston martins and Porches dammn ugly things but tried them never the less . Got mates with beautiful looking wives got some with right horrors ( no offence Plod )....see where i am going ? I like some designs on Ribs others i dont ( I did not like the Baltic Cabin either when i first saw it .............( sorry Andre )however it turned so many heads and recieved so many nods of approval both from Buyers and gawkers that I guess Parker have got it right and i would have got it wrong if it had been left to me to style it )

Now I wonder if I still have my dealership or shall i start importing the eastern block women ..........

I was having a chat with Rouge Wave about the verado block at the weekend. Does anyone know if the block is based on an existing auto block? I believe brunswick have built a new foundry to cast the blocks, but mr wave suggested the blocks could be derived from (inspired by?) the nissan skyline block?
Thanks
M

David, no fears your dealership is SOLID

however what do some mean by EASTERN BLOCK - what block . That used to be a phrase once refered to the Communist states. Today they don't exist we have an enlarged EC and thinking of Poland well Poland is and was located in Central Europe. It is like refering to Greece as a Western country or better still West European country probably South Eastern would be a better discription if location was required

Nissan Skyline.

The Nissan block which i had in my R34 V spec is a cracking engine however i do believe from conversations that it is Porsche derived which would not surprise me. By all accounts they are a superb engine and hoepfully i will be able to give you my own opinion soon.

Mercury engineers teamed with some of the top engineering design houses in the world - Lotus, Motorola, Cosworth and Porsche to develop the ultimate supercharged outboard engines.
(from Mercury Website)

I think the head design guy was Claus Bruestle who works for Porsche!! So I'm guessing its probably Porsche derived, no bad thing at all!!

Here's what the Mariner Verado will look like, nice!!

Verado tech spec

The Verado project was undertaken over a 5 year period.
Its actually a totally new design and really neither Porsche or Nissan
Mercury Employed a Porsche Guy to develope the engine but it has been done from scratch. There is proprably Porsche thinking in the design but apart from that its all new. Our MD in Poland has trialed these engines both in the USA and last week in Helsinki.............he rated them at 101% perfect and simply outstanding. Parker as some of you are aware are Mercury Distributors ( not dealers ) and as such we already have these engines in stock. It is our intention to fit out one of our "RS" Hulls 7. 5 mt with a 250 Verado to use as a demo craft. I am sure there are many of you we might be able to tempt to our demo days to trial both the Rib and Verado combination. We hope to have this craft on the water in the UK for late 2004 early 2005.
I believe that a full write up on these engines exsists in a past issue of Rib International for those of you who want to know more.

I am about to find out today as we are awaiting the final prices.
We cannot sell the engines in the UK though by themselves as we are only able to sell them attached to a craft. We have to abide by Mercurys sales conditions in Europe.I can however supply to the UK market with the engines pre rigged on one of our craft only.

Have you tried dare i say it ! the Barrus web site, i would have thought that they as mercury distrubtors for the UK would have also by now set the selling price. I guess the larger ones ie 250s complete with the new steering system would be Circa 25000 euros , but please do not take this as gospel

Sorry cannot give more information at the time of writing.

Except we all know the cost of a verado alone will be a lot more than the cost of a verado attached to the back of a boat.

BLOODY HELL IT IS!!
Say even if you get the normal 20% discount on that price (the distributors get 30%) is still Euro 20,000. You buy two NIVAs for that

Now the serious question is WHY SHOULD ONE BUY A VERADO?

Unless of course you have spare 20-25K and instead of throwing it in the toilet or set it on fire or buy condoms or something you get an engine for the fun of it

Hi Manos
Question - what should one do with two NIVA's??

Serious - just looked at two brand new Verados on a Boston Whaler 27 this afternoon. They're huge - and the "have the looks..." (great). Run great too.

But I also heard that two of the first Verados here in Norway went
BANG.... so what should we do... my Yamahas (250 - 300HPDI) go BANG, BANG every 35-40 hours. FICHT's have their problems (bang bang bang - but no capital letters). And I don't like "heavy" 4-strokes..

Go Optimax??
