Mercury Warranty......

I'm investigating the possibility of buying a nearly new Parker Rapier which is in Poland or Belgium at the moment (not sure which).

It has a nearly new Merc 115 carb'd engine which I may ask the dealer (In Europe) to change for a 150 Opti.
Would I be correct in saying that Barrus would not honour the warranty if something went wrong or does that only apply to Mercs imported from the USA.

As I say, it's only a possiblity at the moment - funds may not allow - but I would be interested to hear from anyone 'In the Know' as it were.

The latest reply from Barrus regarding warranties is that they don't have a problem with a "one off" import by a retail customer, what they don't approve of is a boat builder or dealer import.

Not many know but Parker Poland (Parker Ribs) are also the distributor for Mercury Marine in Poland just like E.P. Barrus are in the UK. The Mercury warranty is recognised worldwide. Any dealer worldwide can log on to www.marinepower.com and check if the engine is under warranty by putting in the engine serial number in appropriate box. I would be most suprised if Diesel was to say differently

I have a Parker 630 diesel and within the warranty period had a small problem and my local authorised Mercruiser dealer had no problems in establishing that my engine was still under warranty

Mercury 5 year warranty?

Was looking on the Mercury website yesterday and saw what looked like a 5 year warranty on some engines bought this winter / spring.

I wonder if we will get this here or if its for the USA only?
