A volvo and mercruiser kkk k24 turbo will bolt to the manifold irc but they are substantially larger than the standard turbo so you may need some sort of boost pressure regulator or waste gate built into the system somewhere if you go that route

From the Pac 22 Manual, the turbocharger is listed as a Kuhnle, Kopp and Kuasch (KKK) K26.

I can't upload the manual because it is too big.

I have attached a screenshot from the Mermaid Marine parts list for the Turbo 4 engine that relates to the turbocharger. You may find giving them a call will help.

Thats interesting my pal was sorting a pac 22 and looking for more power 120hp standard I think .He fitted a second hand mercruiser turbo I thought it was k24 from a 180hp merc but it may have been a k26 from a 220/250 but sat on his bench the compressor and turbine wheels were way bigger than the turbo he took off. Dont remember what came off but it was way smaller.
I guess that opens up more options for used units as both merc and volvo used the k24 and k26 on various engines
The k26 was usually on the 200+ hp engines
I wonder if there was various hp outputs in the pacs and thats the reason for the different turbos?

Its always possible my pals engine had the wrong turbo when he bought it of course.

I now remember I downloaded the manual from the Northern Exposure website.

Boating Resources

It suggests that the Pac 22 had a max continuous rating of 140 shp at 2,600 rpm which gave a speed of around 26 kts.

I expect that both Halmatic and the MoD played around with their boats so a different turbo wouldn't surprise me.

I'm in the process of changing it to a Yanmar so I'll be interested in the performance difference.
