Hi Andy they have been in the game for many many years used to be based in Glasgow. Never used them but have had a few mates that have over the the years and hey never complained. They are always very helpful. Hope that helps.

Thumbs up for Mitchell outboards. Alex is very knowledgeable and will definitely help you out. Good guy to keep on hand for advice too.

Used them last year for a service. No complaints. Seem to know what they are doing.

Hi
I would recommend Liverpool power boats L20 4HN and get it serviced out of season They are also far more local to you and if it does not get finished on the same day its not a problem picking it up later.

I've only ever twice used them for actual servcing and in both cases time wasn't a constraint so I can't comment re. Muz' comment about time. I guess time of year may be a factor?
Big +1 for the knowledge & quality of work.
If you are heading for Oban, Clyde (above) isn't exactly a huge diversion (time or distance wise) when compared to driving up from Liverpool.

hadd,
not sure it makes sense to drop it off in the middle of your journey. I've no personal experience of Mitchell's but haven't heard anything alarming, and they certainly seemed busy when they were in Glasgow; there's not many places will be able to accurately book you a specific slot for servicing so you can drop the boat off and collect a few hours later. As Dave (Clyde) says if they don't manage to do it there and then it would be a major pain - a seized bolt, another customer job that overruns, or some part that the need unexpectedly could easily add a day. So with plenty of time to plan get it done locally before you head north! Having said that I was in a similar boat last week and needed to leave the boat somewhere near oban for a week and the engine was due a service so I left it with Ardoran Marine (not etec dealers I am afraid) and was pleased with service and price - but I did give him a week to fit it in, because I didn't need the boat until our second week.

I also think Dave & Cameron at Clyde Outboards can be recommended as I've had nothing but excellent service there but you'd have to speak to them about a specific time slot....!
Out of the two of them Cameron's the looker..

Mitchells have been very good in my experience. Previously carried out a sizeable repair for me, gave me a date to bring the boat in and completed the work within a couple of days.

I think it was .. but to be told a time critical service would be ready for a certain date , and discover it hadnt even been looked at the day before it was to be collected, was what pissed me off, and they had had it for a good number of days .... I wouldnt have left it otherwise.
Anyway they gave me some rapid help with some parts I needed when I did the service .... just got annoyed I had to factor that into my workload when they said thay could do it no problem

i think the time of year is really the factor, i asked Cameron to do my annual service but no chance, busy busy. with that said every cloud has a silver lining, i done the service myself and saved 120 quid....more fuel to spend at loch lomond!
cheers
