Motor length

I have a 1995 Zodiac 550 Pro II. I presently have a 1994 Yamaha 90hp motor on it.

I am considering buying another motor, maybe a 115hp. My question is, regardless if I buy 90hp or a 115hp, does it make a difference in the length in the motor, a 20" or 25" in performance? What can I expect from either length?

Length of engine needs to match transom of boat too short or too long will cause problems measure the boat and buy the engine to suit
