Its supposed to be stamped on the core plug on the cylinder head. I say supposed to be because mine wasn't.

Depending on what parts you want its quite easy to work out the model of engine from www.dougrussell.com in the US. Then you can get the part number you require.

For your info I found ordering from the US cheaper than the UK even though Dougrussell have a minimum postage charge of $41. US parts are half the price of UK parts. Delivery was only a few days as well.

Best of Luck Nick R.

Also depending on what parts you want E Bay might be the answer. Try the Uk and US sites.

If you find its got no spark, then after checking the obvious, check the stator units under the flywheel. They are apparently a common problem. If you get stuck for tech info/manual, PM me and I will copy info onto a CD for you.

And if you need, parts, call American Marine Imports.
IMVHO you won't find a better place - both in terms of price and stock.

If its a blue band its mid 80's.

That engine actually looks like an early 90's model.

I might be mistaken. If it is a red band its a 70's model.

I could do with some better pics of the engine to make out the era.

The core plug is a dull metal round plug about the size of an old ten pence piece on the head.

I'm not too sure what the number goes like. Problem is all the individual parts have their own number but that seems to be part of the casting. The Serial number should be stamped.

Try a search on www.iboats.com Its an excellent site and the people on it are friendly and very knowledgeable.
