Need to extend ob leg

I need to build up my transom as the step down is getting to be PITA. But if I do that i need to ext the leg on my mariner 150 2st V6 to xl 25". Does anyone know of a second hand dealer that specialises. I am looking at it as a winter project.

How about an alternate option ? We have just took in a very clean 2004 Mercury 150 Optimax, Saltwater Edition. Stupidly low hours, good history, with rigging. Its an XL too

Give me a call, We can keep extension kits in stock and they are surprisingly cheap!

Jesus Torbo-D! Where were you when I had this issue around a year ago?

Jambo, we are just looking at re-engine for our Valiant and have a Merc 150 2st approx year 1999 and I bought an extension kit from the states and had it shipped out to me here in Spain. Was a royal PITA what with Spanish customs etc etc but it did what we wanted it to do. Find out what Turbo-D is offering, consider Peter's offering and if neither suit drop me a PM. Makes no odds to me if I sell mine as an L or XL so may be able to liberate the kit for some readies.......

I extended my transom upwards with Aluminium.

Take a look at the thread below.

EDIT
Just found the attached drawing I did at the time.
The image shows how it looks now.

If your happy with your existing engine that's the way to go, much cheaper than a re-engine and keeps you with your trusted, known engine.

Only pitfalls being next upgrade may be harder to source correct shaft length but I guess you could always readjust the transom to suit. Extending the leg may be more expensive but it should add value when you decide to sell it, if it still has life in it when that time comes.
