Need to replace key cylinder, 2000 Zodiac YL380

Hi all,

My key sheared off inside the ignition cylinder of my 2000 Zodiac YL380/Evinrude 40hp 4 stroke and I'd like to replace the entire ignition cylinder since the deadman's switch is also dead (anyone can start the boat with a flathead screwdriver regardless of deadman's switch on or off). I have pulled the complete shifter/throttle box off the console but can't split the two halves open completely. All screws are removed and the sides are separated but I'm sure there's some process required to access the internals so I can detach the cylinder.

Suggestions?

I see complete replacement shifter modules on Amazon for $500 so I'm not sure if it might just be smarter to replace the entire assembly?

Thanks!
