Neoprene Engine Cover

Picture of neoprene engine cover made for me by Solent Divers.

Wish I'd had bought it as soon as I got the engine - it would have saved the engine from so many scratches! Not cheap, but fits well and stays put at speed thanks to velcro around the bottom.

The engine seems to start better (guess it stays warm for longer). Run it at home for a few minutes and then I'm guaranteed a first pull start when launching from the beach.

Does it stay wet when it's been soaked or is it sealed neoprene?

The neoprene is the same as in wet suits - black one side, red the other. Sealed neoprene?

The fabric doesnt hold water or let it through when subjected to spray, but it can get damp behind the neoprene if you get a bit carried away with the fresh water wash down. Dont see it as too much of a problem though.

Not appreciably. Run the engine near to WOT and find that ear plugs work best for deadening the sound. At idle, there is a slight reduction in sound.

You can buy similar ones for most popular outboards.

Looks good though.

I think these type of covers are just bags to place over the hood during storage. The ones I saw didnt have cut outs to allow air to get into the engine whilst running and flapped around. With no air intake I wouldnt expect to get very far!

Got the neoprene one made up, so it could remain on all of the time.
