I will be buying a new Tohatsu 20 hp engine soon And got to thinking
When would the best time to buy be?



Any deals around at certain times of the year or just random deals about occasionally .

Just received an email saying if I buy now I will get one at this price but in December it will cost more ?

So when is the best time to buy new ???

I bought a new Tohatsu 20 a couple of years ago from Clyde Outboards at Glasgow. There doesn't seem to be a lot of wriggle room with new stuff but as I was buying a Honwave and some other bits there was a bit of haggling available.
Most websites don't seem to hold stock & merely order from the distributor when they have an order. Great little engine.I certainly think out of season is the time to buy, especially if someone has 'old' stock or an ex-demo model standing about.

Ely Boat Chandlers are compiling their winter early bird discounts - other chandlers might do same?

Honda just reduced the price of their outboards plus the early bird discount means i'm saving about £200 or more on the price of a new BF20 as long as I order in November for delivery in December.

But Billingham seem cheaper than the Honda (my local guy is Honda and I'm buying a package so makes sense for me)... Honda is 7kg lighter too which saves my back

whats the price comparison between the Honda and the Suzuki he's offering and the warranty, Suzuki offer 5 years?

Not sure what price the Suzuki is...

Honda BF20 comes with 6 year warranty and you could probably get for £2300 incl. the earlybird discount

(EDIT... just checked Suzuki, it's £2300 also)
