New Suzuki BF9.9b, fuel drain procedure?

Just purchased a new Suzuki BF9.9b. Manual says fuel should be drained manually before transporting. Wondering if I could instead run motor dry to accomplish same thing? Will that harm engine?

We ran a DF20 for three years and never drained the fuel system before transport despite the manual recommendation.

Apart from this procedure being a right faff, it seems totally over the top for a pressurised fully sealed efi system. Think in reality it’s a health and safety generated clause by Suzuki. Also wouldn’t recommend running motor dry as residual fuel shouldn’t go off as no contact with outside air in the sealed system.

I would however recommend only transporting on correct side and always keeping powerhead higher than leg.

We owned the same outboard design and Chipko is spot on in all respects.

Same here, DF20, never drain the fuel. General wisdom is not to run EFI engines dry.
