New (to me) Suzuki DF90a

Got out today for my first trip with my new (to me) 2012 DF90a

I may need to look at re-proping as I couldn't quite get to WOT without exceeding max Revs, although I was only 1 up and half full of fuel so will wait and see how it performs with a bit more weight on board.

Very pleased with the engine, ran really smooth and economic on the fuel. Performance compared to the DF50 is awesome!

Thanks to all at Solent Outboard Exchange for the hassle free purchase and install.

Mike

Will check tomorrow for sure when I have a look round to see if there are any deals on!

What size and weight boat is it on. I had one on the back of a 5.5m 1.5 ton outfit (Non rib) that reached 6100 rpm with a 17 in Solas alloy prop. Most engines are fitted to low on the transome and benefit from lifting a couple of holes also.

I had a the very same day with my new to me 2012 Suzuki Df 80 A on Thursday on my Valiant Pt 520 . The response from this engine is pretty awesome I managed 36 knts but revving to 6100 a little to high for my liking .Prop 13.3/4 x 17 Aluminium should I go up to 13.3/4 x19

Going to a 19" prop will take you down to somewhere in the region of 5500/5600, Suzuki don't seem very specific using something like 5300-6300 max, that's quite a wide window.

Getting your hands on a 19" to test might be worth doing.

I've got a 21" on a DF 140 and it tops out at 6100.

It's on a 5.3m Humber Destroyer, I think maybe going to 19 would give a bit more top end, but will wait to see how it performs with a bit of load.

With the Weather and the Cardiff Half Marathon shutting down the city today I'm not going to get out, may be tomorrow.
