New Yamaha V-Max 300hpdi

Is there anyone who has one of these.

Once I have read on this forum that the 250V-Max has more power than the 300 HPDI.
I'm wondering If this engine will give any differance.

Dan.

I have read of quite a few people having probs with the 300hp Yamaha - don't know how true these are though. Personally I would go with the Evinrude Etec 250 - have heard nothing but good reports on them and they are pretty good on fuel as well.

Try doing a search here on Ribnet and you will find plenty of feedback.

I know that my dealer sells lot's of big yamaha engines but he is not very keen on the 300hp version. the ones he sold have often problems.

Ask Petrov. He has 2 x 300 hp HDPI on his rib.

I have seen Petrov's replies. I was wandering if there would be any more positive signs about this new VMAX model.
Everyone seems to be very positive about the VMAX 250 range. I was hoping that this engine would be better than the normal 300 HPDI.
I don't know how new this model is. Maybe it hasn't proven itself yet or no one has bought one yet.

I have talked to a few people about these engines , and everone says that the pistons are made from chocolate!!!!!

Barnet told me , that everyone he has fitted has died , Redbay said the same.

By all accounts, very Badly, Barnet said that if they had a problem with an OPTI ,Bauras would just replace/fix the problem ..... But with YAM ,they just burried there head in the sand and hoped it would go away... And claming it could have been user error etc ....

Same in Scandinavia, would like to here more about how they handle the case, did they take it on warranty in the end or are they still fighting with them?

to be honest I dont know how it finished up, but From what Barnet said , it sounded like it was more that one engine , and I could have involved a 250 too ..... I would give Laurance a call , he seems a nice guy , and I am sure he would tell you .

Tim.

Just to be sure, we are talking about the VMAX 300 hpdi. Not to be confused with the standard HPDI.
I know there are enough problems with this last one and was wondering if the VMAX makes a difference.

(Though I will be very interested anyway in the end of your story.)

Dan.

Also available as a Z300 HPDI in 25- and 30-inch shaft lengths, the hot model is the VZ300 VMax, which is a 20-inch-shaft engine intended primarily for bass boats.
