Nice Mr Barrus

Barrus have very kindly paid for all the parts (about £2000) for my 150 Opti after its mishap 4.5 months out of warranty. I am very impressed and pleased.

Just a thought for all the other Opti owners out there..... any chance of posting some details of the part that failed (perhaps a photo, or a part number of the offending item) so that other could check theirs or replace as they see fit?

Compressor broke free (sheared bracket) and bounced up and down on the fuel rail (possibly it was for a few months held on by its belt) and did £2.2k of damage....

Basic message is lift the cover, and check, after each trip, and spray everything with WD40!

Had here in the water Saturday but very very rough running and stalling so Dave Crawford's engineer is looking at her in the water this afternoon. Will keep you posted.

After false alarm it was a £2000+ ECU which had failed, turned out to be coil. That is now replaced and she is running well.

45 Knots (2 way average) in the Solent this morning in slight swell and show chop, revs 5150-5350. This is slightly faster than I would have expected with half a tank.

She makes a new relatively high frequency purr over and above the throaty bass noise I was used to, at around 1800rpm = 7kn going up river. Sort might be exhaust noise. No idea why???

Am using a 21p laser prop to deliver that - would changing prop give me a bit more at the top without harming rough weather responsiveness. We do no towing.....
