Off set on fitting a new Engine

I have a Ribcraft 585 and just getting a 2012 Yamaha 100 outboard to go on the back and I am aware I will need to mount the engine with a offset, maybe a inch or two, has anyone got anything more accurate as to the exact offset to help with steering and keeping the boat level when under power? thanks Mark

Has it been fitted with an engine before?

If not , contact Ribcraft direct and they will give you the definitive answer would be best. If its new then they can mark out the correct position

Typically I think it's 1" per 100hp to starboard on standard gearbox. That said 100hp isn't a monster of an engine and most British racers now mount engines dead centre. I recently had the same concern and the consensus on boatmad was middle. I have offsetted the torque of the prop with the battery, oil tank and a few little things on the right side of boat and It runs like a dream. Mines 250hp. Centre looks better too

Predictive text!!!! Mine was 2.5" to starboard and it laid over to port with full trim in between 20-30knots

Rigged in centre with weight on starboard side and it now runs perfect through all trim range and speed up to 60mph

power listing

Had mine moved over last year (150 on an ocean pro) It still lists under power/speed : (

Apart from the fact you have to lean to the right is there actually any disadvantage?

It's rated to 150hp twin 90s would take it over the limit. I do like the twins for driving it like a tank turns on the spot.
