optimax fuel

i currently have a hard boat with a 210hp merc 4.3efi. anyone know how a 8.5m rib with a 225 optimax would compare in terms of jungle juice consumption , oh and oil!

I dont know all too much about this but am i right in thinkign you mercruiser is a 4-stroke?

If so then fuel consumption will be pretty similar, I hear opti oil is pretty expensive though.

I have an 8mtr with 225 Opti and my mates 5ltr Mercruiser in a Sea Ray 215 is quite a lot thirstier, although he doesnt put oil in it.

opti oil is pricey about a score for 4 litres but you don't use that much of it, it's at least a 100:1 mix. Th Optimax lumps are quite frugal , you might find you are only pulling 50 litres an hour at 5.5k revs.

Talk to the Rib Service Centre as they have an 8 mtr rib with a 225 opti and they know how much she consumes. Adam uses it quite regularly. They are in Southampton
