Optimax help please

What would stop the oil pumping to the oil tank on the engine
I have checked there is pressure in the big tank
Engine has just been fitted (2006) 250xs
Have tryed undoing top tap on engine tank and running engine but still does not seem to be getting there
Cheers Richard

A kink in the line, or a holed hose.

Is there oil in the bilge?

To initially fill the engine reservoir you need to run the engine at idle with the cap of the engine reservoir until it fills completely then fit and tighten the cap. Should then all be good....as long as there are no kinks.
Also check the two pipes (one with blue stripe) are fitted to the correct spigots and don't cross over during the run from the main tank.

Edit. Sorry just re-read your post and realised you tried the initial fill. So as above check for kinks/blockages.

Thanks for all the posts I plan on getting back to the rib in the next few days and will try a few tests
1 disconnect oil pipe just before inline filter to tank on engine run engine and see if any oil is coming out if not
2 check filter at end of pipe in main oil tank under seat
3 double check pressure is building up in main tank
4 check pipe for kinks etc

I have heard of foaming before but not jelly. Could be a result of mixing oils as al said.

There's a check valve on the block which should be checked as there will be no pressure to the tank if it fails. It's a non return valve and has to be there as the crankcase pressure is a pulse so if the valve is knackered then there will just be a pulse rather than pressure.

So what happens now when the motor is idling and the cap is off the engine tank? It should fill and overflow...

hi, maybe it will help you. with shocks somethimes i got a air buble coming from the main oil tank to the 1l one in the engine. when this buble is in the small engine tank, it stops to pump oil from the main tank. our mechanician said this is normal, and there is nothing else to do. as suggested you can run your engin with the small tanl open and check if your oil pump is working and fill in the small tank. but you will have oil coming up the small tank, this is so,nething you have to do once to check your oil pump, after that i will suggest you to directly add oil in the engine tank. during my round of ireland we had this issue 3 times. not easy to fix in big waves.
if you have the same issue as me and found a solution please share it !

After pumping the oil with a bike pump I used the boat for about an hour of quite high revs without a low oil warning so hope by pumping with the bike pump I have eliminated any air locks etc but next time I visit the boat I will have a look at the small engine tank to try to see if it's full however it's not that easy to notice that on the out side of my tank but will keep rib net posted
