With the current sea temperatures, you will be lucky to see 90 degrees. At normal running revs the poppet valve opens and the thermostats do not have any effect ,,, and so its the water temp that effect the engine temp. The key is to let the engine warm up fully to around the 130 deg thermostat opening at idle or slow speed trolling before gunning it. Same as shut down, let it idle to normal operating temps. IMHO that is ,,, oh, and the Bible here

Are you measuring the temperature on a smartcraft gauge ?
