Optimax Warranty in Europe

Does anyone or a Dealer know that if I bought a RIB set up in the UK with an Optimax 115HP either new or with warranty still on the motor it would be valid/covered in France?

This will be a big deciding factor for me as the RIB will be based near La Rochelle and will not be able to trail it back and forth to the UK.

Obviously I will continue to get it annually serviced by the local Mercury dealer in La Rochelle.

Advice please.

I went to see the Mercury dealer in La Rochelle who is actually a pretty big dealer. He thought the answer was yes but said I needed to give him the serial number of the engine first - which having not purchased an Optimax yet I could not do.

He quoted circa £208 plus the cost of oil for the 115HP Optimax
and about £20 more for the 115HP EFI plus oil.

His price for a new Optimax 115HP with VAT(TVA) incl 5 yr warranty was €10,384 which equates to about £8,550. About £1,000 more than I think it would be in the UK.

Now this is where you can really laugh. The Mercury dealer on a local island near us (Ile de Re) has quoted £1,250 to include a service, wash the boat down which we do not want and generally take care of checking the RIB and engine over. We are still trying to get him to break out the actual engine service part which is the only thing we want.

Yes its a world wide warranty. As long as its been serviced to Merc's spec etc etc

nigel52 when I worked at the merc/mar distributer any questions that were sent to marine power in Belgium from U.K. and Ireland were sent to the distributer to answer most of the time. Team tip when you purchase the obm insist that the dealer prints of a copy of your registration and gives it to you.

I didn't mention where in Europe I was......so based on Al's advice I would avoid that bit
