Ordering Yamaha spare keys...
Can anyone recommend a place to get a spare Yamaha outboard key? I have the 3 digit number... would prefer to give someone 'local' (ie. on forum) the business

You might find a bike shop can do it-or the local key cuttters if you've got a key number.

Same here. If they have the right blanks it's cheap and quick. May not look as good, but my spares work and I have one with me when out after I nearly snapped the original with my knee.....

That certainly wouldn't worry me! Especially as on some manufacturers barrels you can see the key number without even having to dismantle the control box!

It's one thing seeing the number on the box, another making it public so you can just climb aboard and take it...

So the seller is going to go to your address (which could be hundreds of miles away), stake the place out to watch when you take your boat out, and then pounce with his magic key while your in the pub. I'm still not worried

Point taken. I'm still rather uncomfortable about it though-for some boats I've owned, having the ignition key has been the only proof of ownership.

Rang him this morning, keys are going out in today's post as he has them in stock.
All for a whopping £8 inc. delivery to Rep. of Ireland (2 keys) - cheaper than eBay etc.
Thanks for the recommendation
