Outboard engine life

Hi all,
Im looking at buying a RIB which has twin Johnson Ocean Runner Outboards. One motor has done 850 hrs, the other 300hrs
My question to anyone who can help:
What is the 'life' of these engines and would servicing/rebuilding give me another 1000 hours or so?
I have been told the engines have been regularly serviced. How often would you recommend these should be serviced.
Finally, would you buy an outboard with this many hours? Is there any visual checks I can do to indicate how well these have been maintained. Any bearing checks, wear indications etc?
I appreciate any help thanks
Ian

Ian, welcome to Ribnet. Are you running this boat as a business because if not then 2.2 lpm sounds expensive. You might just get another 1000 hours out of them if they have been looked after and you continue to do the same. Flush with freshwater, good quality oil, regular servicing etc. However there are some other boats in this price range with newer engines (well, worth a good offer/nothing to loose etc)

How about one of these:
