Outboard Extension Bracket e.g. Armstrong

On Nasher's thread on converting to diesel I suggested looking at using an outboard extension bracket. I have only heard positive comments about the effect they have on boat handling and engine performance. Has anyone on here had any experience with them?

Look up Ryan Pratt and his 7m diesel conversions. While Armstrong brackets do provide" full flotation" while at rest, it is not while under way. Instead, he has chosen to have built full flotation brackets that actually mate up and extend the running surface . He said the performance is much better. (Stock OB H733's aluminum bracket also extend the running surface)
