there was a post recently about spray from a transducer and someone made a deflector from hard rubber i think it was, have a search buddy.
That might have been me?

Not hard rubber - I used a bit of ply initially with a couple of bits of beading glued to the outer edges of the underside to deflect it back down. Theory was good, but it was ripped off within seconds of going into reverse (due to the water pressure)

I glued a square of spare Hypalon I had off an old elephant trunk over the top. No pics to hand, but it is enough to keep the spray down, and just flaps up when you go backwards.

And of course, depending on your hull you can match the Hypalon to the toobs or Fibreglass!

Bit of an update guys!
I sealed the bottom cowl a few weeks ago but due to Christmas I only got the boat on the water yesterday. Anyway, when just cruising slowly all was fine but when I ran at WOT for a short time, I removed the top cowl only to find water again!!!
I noticed that the transducer was spraying a lot of water towards the engine and that the top cowl wasn't just as tight as it might be, so I returned home and made a spray guard for the transducer and adjusted the top cowl.
We went for another water test today, things looked great for a while as the spray guard was working great! No water spraying towards the engine or over the transom, but still water under the cowl when running for a very short time at WOT. I tied up at the marina and ran the engine with the top cowl off, I couldn't see any water leaks but did notice water starting to gather and fill from the drain hole area?? Unfortunately there is a plastic cover over the drain so I couldn't see if the water was coming up from the drain hole or if it was filling up quicker than it could get away.

Any of you guys experienced any symptoms like this?
I was thinking of pressurising the water system with air and using soapy water to locate the leak but not sure how I'd go about this! Any ideas?

outboard filling with water under engine cover

Why not remove the cowl & go for a high speed run, let someone take the helm whilst you take a decco. Personally I think you've been barking up the wrong tree all along, I'd suspect a split hose or leaking gasket.

Sure seems that way! Possibly wishful thinking on my behalf
I'll try and get another look tomorrow. Seems to be rising more than leaking down the engine from what I can see, probably lower power head/base gasket! Not looking forward to pulling it apart

For those that are interested, I finally got to the bottom of the water ingress problem, no. 4 in the pic was missing from the lower unit allowing the cavity to fill with water and while at high speed was forcing water up the drain tube thus filling the cowling with water! Explains why it wouldn't drain!!!

Just a few more jobs to sort out and hopefully we will be ready for the IOM on the 2nd of June woohoo!!!!
