hi folks
i have done some research on outboard and batt/box fire protection where a normal auto fire extinguisher or fire trace would not fit. i am happay to say that i have found a solution.and it is not expensive! so much so that i think it will suit many outboard users. i have seen this tested and working and the suppression works very well.
this can be put in to the engine or batt/box on its own or if the users wants then a switch can be used to alert the use of the extinguisher in the event of a fire.
This system utilises firetrace technology. It is 8mm flexi tube which you can coil inside the engine cover. if a fire starts then the tube will burst at the heat source ,thus extinuishing the fire. the tube is under a constant pressure and the use of an external tank is not needed as the agent is sealed inside the tube. hightower if you want one then i can get you one.
This system was featured on tomorrows world when I was a kid ! Have never seen a pro implementation of it so cant comment on its effectiveness but its not new.. ah bring back michael rod, or emm whats his name AHHH Raymond Baxter .......hehe
