I dont know anything about out boards but could some one explain what no tiller control is?
Also what size engine would be nice on a 3.3 mtr inflatable rib?
short or long shaft?

Tiller control is the handle that extends forwards that you use to steer the motor (and thus the boat.) Usually has throttle and engine-kill button on it, and often has the gear select lever. Usually folds upright so as to get it out of the way.

No tiller control implies a helm (steering wheel) somewhere forwards of the motor ('cause if it was behind you'd be in the water.)

Depends on the hull for shaft length, what boat is it?

I had an Avon 3.4m which was rated at 18hp max but I had a Yam 25hp on a tiller, no problems and went like the clappers, no problem towing a ringo either.

Jason

you need a short shaft for that boat, and as for hp, go for some thing close to max rating

And as far as adding, what is it you need to add?

Most smaller motors (up to about 40hp or so) come set up for tiller steering standard, unless specified otherwise.

Max Power

I have exactly the same Maxx Pro from Rob in South Wales, excellent value and quality boats, I have also owned Quicksilver/ Bombard and currently a 2.7m Seago with Air Deck.
The 3.3m Maxx Pro with Alloy floor is rated to 15hp BUT DO NOT GO THIS BIG.
This boat will happily plane with me in it at 19 stone with a Mariner 6hp four stroke powering it. Rob the distributor will tell you that maximum controllable safe size for this boat is 10hp and my Mercury 9.9 HP will easily plane with 4 of us in this boat, anything bigger will be a real handful. I have just used my 3.3 m Maxx Pro down in Dorset this weekend on my own the 6hp was ample and gives good performance, if you intend to carry more people then go for 10hp maximum.

Hi

Yes thats the one and Rob was very helpfull . The Maxx pro is certainly excellent value for money and very good quality , very pleased indeed.

I know the max rated out board is 15hp but i was just finding out because its all new to me so i am looking for a 9.9 or a 15 . I know there is a speed limit on water but i did not want to waste my money on a engine that has not got abit of poke.

How long did it take to inflate the rib?
