outboard live feed and earth

I have recently upgraded to a 40 hp Yamaha power tilt and trim so I am having to set everything up from scratch. I have added a Yamaha 703 remote with a ten pin connector which has all fitted onto the outboard fine, the only thing I have needed to do is to take a live feed and earth, which I have been told, goes directly from the battery to the outboard, can anyone tell me where they go as I'm not really sure and can not make head nor tale of wiring in diagrams.

RIBase
Positive goes to the bolt on the starter solenoid that DOESN'T have the lead to the starter motor on it.
Negative is usually onto a bolt on the top starter motor mounting bracket.

You need thick cable for it-at least 8mm diameter.

I had an idea of where it went, I have it rigged up ready to go but just wanted to make sure before hand. Better to find out from someone who knows rather than guessing especially with electrics!
