I know this has nothing to do with ribs but my uncle has a22 foot Hurley sailing boat which he is thinking of putting an outboard engine on to replace his dolphin inboard what type of engine would you recommend we were thinking of maybe a tohatsu 9.9 and can these be remotely controlled via the tiller he is able to drop the outboard into we're the old engine sits and drop the leg through the hull
Think about where the exhaust from the engine is going to end up !
I'd doubt if the location the inboard was fitted in a sailing boat would make for a good engine well.........too deep?.......in the cabin? I'm sure a transom mounted bracket would be an easier and safer bet. Think carbon monoxide.
Looks like there maybe a Hurley 22 version with an outboard well. I'd look into how simple it would be to convert - otherwise you'll need to mount the engine on the transom.

Yamaha high thrust brilliant had one on a quicksilver 500 designed for that kind of application
