Almost there!! The question is, in the 150hp range for a cruising/family fun RIB which o/b to choose? I like the Yam 150 HPDI myself, and Optimaxs, but am told the 140 Suzuki is a good little beast. Any experiences?

Performance with reasonable economy and good power to weight are the main criteria apart from reliability which ough not be too much of an issue these days ought it?

I have just changed from a yamaha 115 v4 autolube to a yamaha 150 Vmax (not HPDI).

I took to none HPDI, because it was the one I could get second hand. But I havn't tried it yet, still woorking on fitting it on my boat.

But I will let you know, when I get there.

JK, can we kill off this thread please!! I missed the one about Optimaxes which had already been started. Some valuable opinions etc.

I surgest you speak to Ian Hiddely of Liverpool power boats he will give you an honest opinion on any engine you might be thinking of. His experience is mainly in Johnson Evenrude and Yamaha . he also builds 5.4 and 8mtr ribs (top quality). my rib is a good example of his skills...
