Acquired a 2007 2.6 Parsun 4 stroke outboard today. I have had a couple of Chinese Yamaha copy 4 strokes and they were not brilliant but not bad. First impressions of the Parsun was very good. Good quality not brittle engine cowls with a good finish. It had a carburettor fault so removed the carb for a strip and clean. All of the fasteners on it are good quality Stainless and showing no signs of corrosion. I was able to completely strip the carb and there is easy access to main and pilot jet venturi holes and galleries without the need for drilling welch plugs out. Another nice touch is valve settings printed on the stainless rocker box cover.
Cleaned and reassembled carb and it started first pull and idled like a Singer sewing machine.
As stated this wasnt a straight out of the box brand new engine but a well used model. My opinion of these are that they are very good, yes a clone of a Yamaha but a good one and for the price good value for money.
People on here who own them seem to defend them. I think I have read something on here about the paintwork not being very good but apart from that, say they are pretty reliable .
