Parsun update needed

I've searched the archives but the only info I can see re Parsun 9.8HP is about four years old. Are there any recent reviews / information / opinions please? - Thanks - Andrew

Practical boat owner I think reviewed Japanese, US and other far east outboards of about 5hp last summer. General cncensus was that Japanese are by far the best

Not sure if you are buying new here but maybe worth a thought that like a lot of brand-sensitive consumer goods you may find the initial cost savings of a budget engine are easily wiped out by huge depreciation come re-sale relative to a 'big name' engine.

I spent a few long evenings searching the net for Parsun info on a 9.8. There were more negative than positive comments internationally. I used google.com and google.com.au to search the US and OZ.

I then spent months tracking down a mint Tohatsu 9.8 2S.

You too, eh? I was lucky with mine - bought blind from Wales and turned out to be a cracker.

If Max... hurries up and gets the info for the impellor change, I might even get her on the water this season

Mine cost me a lot from a stealer but it was fully serviced with new impeller, new fuel tank and connections and 6 months warranty. Half an hour with a techie showing me how to set it up was worth the £££ as this is my first outboard.
