Perished fuel line

Hi I’m looking for a bit of advice.

I cut the fuel line to install a fuel filter and in doing so I notice the inner lining is completely perished. I’m obviously going to need a new one but wondered if this will happen again when cutting into a brand new one? Or is it just because it’s years old?

Anyone had the same thing happen?

* it’s an 8mm ID fuel line on a rib with a 40hp mariner outboard. A quick google and I think it’s a quicksilver one

I assume yours was the grey Quicksilver hose? As I said on the linked thread I prefer this hose above all others when it’s new but it does need checking after 5-10yrs. If new or used but good condition it cuts fine.
