Portable fuel tank - manual gauge cloudy

Hi all,

Cut a long story short.... Boat is in storage so fuel tank is in my garage. It's the type with a manual gauge in the screw on lid.

Garage roof leaked & the 'boat box' filled with water.

No water in fuel tank, but the Empty-Full display and the needle are not visible as it's all gone milky white.

Any ideas if it can be cleared or do I need to track down a new gauge?

Cheers!

Good ideas, thank you. It's in front of the fire now, so we'll see.

Got me thinking though.....

The fuel tank sits under my jockey seat, and the rib has a console with lots of space for a fuel gauge.

Any idea how i fit an external gauge?!!

Not too sure, someone else more experienced will comment. It involves setting up a nmea2k network and you can get the LMF gauge and connect directly or else use your compatible plotter and have a virtual gauge.

The fuel flow device inserts into the fuel pipe and calculates your usage so you know how much is left in the tank and alternatively the sensor cable requires you to cut a hole in your tank for a sender unit. Not sure of the cost there. Found the listings on EBay.

If any use I’ve got a new one of these been meaning to stick on eBay https://pacermarine.co.uk/product/12...el-tank-cap-2/ which Pacer (nice fella called Kevin) says fits Yamaha and Honda tanks, made by Sceptor. Managed to buy two instead of one and missed the returns window.
