Probably the biggest auxilliary engine ever!

Took a double take on this. Apparently it's completed 164 hours from new. Used as an auxilliary engine. What was it on - a bleed'n tug?

LOL, that reminds me of mine. We call them both auxiliaries, depending on which one dies first. 164 hours over four seasons is about right for a lot of leisure engines. Maybe it was the other half of a pair? More seriously, how did an auxiliary do 164 hours in four years - not possible surely...?

Unless it was a reserve engine for a commercial outfit?

Yeah, yer man Dermot o Toole ran a 90hp aux and a 5hp main. He reckoned he managed excellent economy, but sh*t top end.
