Thank you for your reply Julie, and for your email.
There's a couple of points I'm not in agreement with but I shall reply to you by email.

Hmm, I'd be interested in knowing the answer to that one as well!
Shame to let this thread die without hearing what the outcome of it all is. Has RichardB been shafted by the evil prop repairer, or didn't we get the full story. C'mon Dickie, spill the beans!!

Richard you owe me nothing, however I do think that you owe the members of Ribnet the courtesy of a reply as to the outcome of 4 pages of posts rubbishing a company and it's products!

Sorry Richard, that's not how I see it. Having supplied Solas props to a number of customers, I stand by my statement that they are a "budget" priced prop that is not really suitable for high performance applications. Julie did infact advise that a rubber bush is not the ideal thing to have in this situation, and did infact reccommend a solid hub.
Unfortunately, a solid hub prop would in most cases void the warranty on an outboard, as the rubber is there to protect the lower unit and propshaft from damage, possibly from not driving the boat correctly in big seas, or striking an underwater object.
Anyway, at no time did I rubbish the product or indeed the company, who I have used on numerous occasions since 1976.

Particularly them, have you met their MD, nasty woman.
Besides they are all good drivers there and now how to look after the boats so they don't knacker the props.
In fact one of the drivers often gets out of the boat to give the Hull and engine an easier life and the other one doesn't go fast enough to disturb the water much

Well Dirk Dig-a-hole-for-yourself, you seem to have had one of your famous memory lapses!
On 29 October 2003 at 08:35 you said "I've always used Prop Revs in Poole" Always! Not mostly or often, but always! Make your mind up, which company have you used?
And your rubbishing of Solas props began that same day. There are five instances of you rubbishing Solas props, which I shalln't repeat as they can be read on your posts. If you can't find them, I'll happily PM the quotes to you.
Gotta go now!

I assume from the amount of times you have edited your last post your starting to realise what a load of bull you've been spouting.
If your going to quote me then at least do it in full, an example being " I can't understand why anyone would buy what is a cheap prop" only you forgot to quote the rest of the sentence which as you obviously know was "to use in a high perf installation.
As for me saying I have always used "Prop revs", that is correct, I have used them ever since they parted company from Poole Propellers, which is possibly 10 years or so, but I've been having props repaired since 1976, and before prop revs I used Steel Developments. I still use them now, to purchase nose cones, solas props and a few other items that I can't buy from prop revs!
As for rubbishing Solas Props, I still stand by my statement that they are a "budget priced prop" and not best suited for high perf use. Out of interest, I also use powertech props as supplied by the lads in Poole, and these are also "budget priced".

I edited the post as I decided there wasn't any point in going over old ground.
I don't really have the motivation to carry on a daft argument with a non-existant person in public!
