Propeller Choice

I am currently running a Quicksilver 48 16988 A5 18P stainless and with 2 adults and with one light weight teenager I achieve about 5,600 rpm at wot on my 90 hp 4 stroke; carb version (max rpm is 6000). Engine height and trim etc is spot on.

On a standard Mercury Aluminium propeller; 13 ¼ x 17 mid range rpm and speed for planing and towing is exactly the same as the stainless however, the rpm at wot again with 2 adults and one light weight teenager is 5,800 I imagine if weight was reduced I would get pretty close to the 6000 rpm. Hole shot on the Aluminium is much better.

Given that my Aluminium prop is in poor condition my thoughts were on a new propeller or having the stainless reworked to a 17 pitch.

I quite liked the idea of a Turning point 3 blade 17 pitch, with the vents as I have considerable bow rise due to the heavy 4 stroke.

Thoughts welcomed and has anyone any experience of the Turning Point 3 blade prop.
