Quicksilver high performance lube in Twatsoo?

Ordered Quicksilver gear lube for my Tohatsu M60C outboard. The chandlers sent me high performance lube (along with genuine Tohatsu fuel pump gasket kit, impeller, etc). Anyway, changed the gear lube at the weekend and only once I snipped the ends of the tubes did I notice it was high performance lube, not the premium stuff (for outdrives and outboards over 75hp). I normally use Yamalube, so goodness knows why I opted for bleed'n Quicksilver.

Can I use this lube, or is it likely to cause issues? The engine throttle stop on the Tohatsu is adjusted, so its effectively a 70hp at WOT. It would be a pain if I have to drain it, apart from the expense, but I will if its going to cause a problem. Better that than a knackered gear box. Any views?

It will be just fine. Its better than the premium oil. We put it in anything over 40hp. wont cause any problems. even at the factory we use it in 40hp and above.

Thanks Turbodiesel, that's a relief. Appreciate it.

As follow on from Turbo, when I worked at the merc/mar distributer here in Bicester, all what ever hp have high performance gear oil in them , If I was dooing a pdi and the gear oil required topping up , then I would drain the factory oil and re-fill with high performance gear oil.
