Remote throttle problem

I have a console mounted remote set up, replaced last year due to wear causing excess ‘play’ in the arm.

Truncation whereby you depress the button in the centre of the remote ‘arm’ to activate throttle only, doesn’t work - it never has!

Remote works fine I normal use- engaging gears, operating throttle etc. Just the throttle only operation.

I’ve checked the cables at both ends, no obvious issues. The remote see,Bly is new so shouldn’t be any Internal wear, so looking for any ideas??

Ill try all of that again, as cant edit the OP and good old iOS has added a few grammar and spelling issues!!!!!

Remote works fine when in gear, just the throttle only operation does not work.

Have checked cable connections at remote and engine ends, all ok - and verified by correct operation when in gear.

Looking for any pointers, although i am going to remove the whole unit from the boat and bring home for closer inspection - must be something to do with the push button mechanism, maybe not installed correctly when the unit was installed last year.
